Lucky escape for Creeslough family

Members of a Creeslough family were lucky to have avoided serious injury in Derry on Sunday night when vandals attacked their car as they returned from the airport .

A missile was thrown at the vehicle belonging to Roscad resident Angela McFadden, as she travelled along the Skeoge Road, between the Foyle Bridge and the Buncrana Road, smashing a side window and showering passengers with glass.

The incident occurred around the same time a major security operation was taking place in the city, where an attempted mortar attack was foiled a short time earlier.
