Jim McGuinness says people will score in life thanks to education

All-Ireland winning Donegal manager, Jim McGuinness, told an audience of more than 900 people on Friday that he would not be where he is today if he had not returned to education in his early 20s.
“I really owe everything I have at the moment to education and I have no qualms about saying that,” Jim said.
“I feel very lucky that I was able to get a second chance,” he said. In order to return to education, he said he had to overcome the lack of confidence that struck him at different stages in his life.
“The first thing is self-confidence,” Jim said. “It’s a huge, huge, huge thing. I think it’s the major stumbling block to people achieving in their lives.”
Delivering the keynote address at the Donegal Vocational Education Committee (VEC) Adult Learner Fair 2013, Jim offered an engaging and personal account of how commitment and focus were key factors not only in his own journey, but in the All-Ireland success of the Donegal team.
He offered a saying: The difference between a dream and a fantasy is commitment.
“You have a dream and you’re fully committed to it, then you will get there,”
