Ivory smuggling - find out more in Gaoth Dobhair!

Forgive the liberty with the headline, but hopefully it caught your attention. Did you know there’s a Donegal man who spent seven years in Africa and has written a remarkable book about his time there and he had quite an adventure.

Brian C. O’Donnell covers everything from ivory smuggling to crocodile hunting in his remarkable new book.

If you want to find out more, then make a date for Wednesday the 27th of February at 6pm in Leabharlann Phobal Ghaoth Dobhair where this local author and Donegal native will launch his book entitled “Life of Brian…. in Africa”

This book gives an account of Brian’s travels in Africa over a seven year period.

It is an action-packed read from beginning to end; from currency and ivory smuggling, helping set up an orbital rocket base, getting caught in two local wars in Congo, setting up a diamond buying organisation, crocodile hunting and skinning, and finally being hospitalised in a Rhodesian army mine explosion, it is anything but a dull read.

Wexford writer, Rachel Darlington describes the book as “a romping good yarn by a true adventurer”

The book launch will be presented by well known singer Jacqueline Sharkey and extracts from the book will be read by the author himself Brian C. O’Donnell.
