Gweebarra case adjourned

A long running case of alleged illegal fishing on the Gweebarra River has been adjourned until next month, Glenties District Court heard yesterday.

The charges were listed against 25 named individuals alleged to have fished illegally on the waterway at Adderwal, Doochary and Coolroy, Fintown on various dates between April and July 2010.

Prosecuting solicitor, Dennis O’Mahoney, said a High Court decision had been made in the case and was due back for finalisation on February 7 and asked the cases being heard in Glenties District Court be put back.

He added that there was also a number of related cases listed in Dungloe District Court.

Judge Denis McLaughlin adjourned the case until February 12.
