Gardaí investigate spate of break-ins at weekend

Gardaí in Ballyshannon and Donegal Town are investigating a series of break-ins that took place at the weekend.

On Friday night at around 10.30pm, two large windows were broken on the front door during an alleged break-in at Magh Ene College in Bundoran, a garda spokesperson said. A young adult has been charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear at Donegal District Court on Wednesday.

On Saturday, between 3pm and 7pm, a house at Glebe Crest in Donegal town was ransacked while the occupants were away. Some jewellery was taken.

A house in Laghey was broken into between 5.30pm and 7.00pm on Saturday while the owners were away. There was minor damage to the front door and a sum of money was taken.

In Mountcharles, the occupants of a house returned home at 7.15pm on Saturday and disturbed intruders, who made off with a small amount of cash.

Anyone with information is asked to ring gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071 985 8530 or Donegal Town on 972 1021.
