Mire Doogan: Deeply regretted is the death of Mrs. Mire Doogan, Glasgow which occurred peacefully at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow on Thursday, February 18th. Mire, who was originally from Magheraclogher, passed away after a prolonged illness. She was a daughter of the late Mickey Eoghain Eoin Doherty, Magheraclogher and his wife, Kitty Mhic Nellie (who was originally from Ardsbeg, Gortahork). She was one of a family of eleven children. Although Mire spent most of her life living in Glasgow, she paid frequent visits to her home. The deceased was a kind and gentle person, and she will be sadly missed by her family circle and her many friends. Mire was married to a Magheraclogher man, Hugh Doherty, who sadly passed away. She later married a Cloughaneely man, Barry Doogan, who also sadly passed away a number of years ago. She was also predeceased by her son, Michael and her brother, John Doherty, who resided in the family home in Magheraclogher. There was reception and vigil at St. Bartholomew's Church, Croftfood Diver, Glasgow on Monday last at 6.30p.m. Her funeral mass was celebrated on Tuesday 23rd at 9.30am and afterwards she was interred in St. Peter's Cemetery, Dalbeth. She is survived by her son, Conn, two daughters, Alice and Sally, brothers, Condy Doherty, (Magheragallon Road), Joe, (Wales), Eoghan, (Swindon) and Mchel, (Magheraclogher), sisters, Bridie Sharkey, (Annagry), Nellie, (Edenburgh). Sarah Curran, (Cotteen, Derrybeg), Maggie O'Donnell, (Glasgow), Rosie Doherty, (Magheraclogher), and Sheila Boyle, (London), grandchildren, in laws nephews, nieces, relatives and friends, to all of whom deep sympathy is extended.

Sheskinbeg: County Council workers are currently repairing a part of the Sheskinbeg road which remained closed since last July. A section of this road collapsed during the flooding which occurred on June 23rd last. Repair work was carried out shortly afterwards but the road was damaged again by another flooding in July. The closure of the road had caused much inconvenience to people in the area. Pipes have been placed in a stream running along the road which will ensure the subside of the road at this point will not occur again. The road will soon be open to the public again.

Memorial Walk: The Colm Clancy Memorial Walk will be held in the Glenveagh National Park on Easter Sunday, April 4th. Assembly point is at the car park at 11.30am. The walk is in aid of the Cara Malawi School Project and sponsorship cards are now available in all the business establishments in the area. Colm Clancy, a flight instructor, died in April of last year in a flying accident. A son of Mr. Matt and Mrs. Betty Clancy, Stranacorkra, Derrybeg, he was aged thirty four years at the time of his death.
Chernobyl Collection: A church gate collection in aid of Chernobyl will be taken up outside all the churches in the parish this weekend, (Saturday and Sunday). The organisers hope the people of the area will be as generous as possible. Children from Chernobyl will be coming to the area in July and will be staying with families in the locality.
Table Quiz: At last week's Cumann na gCurach table quiz held in Teach Shein ig, Middletown, the senior section was won by a team of: Hugh Boyle, Michael Danny Minnie and Adrian Mulligan. The novice section was won by a team consisting of: Sen Baoill, Michael Rodgers, Evelyn Callaghan and Samus Ferry. The whist is held in Teach Shein ig, every Thursday night at 9.30p.m.
Whist Drive: At the whist drive held in Scoil Mhuire, Derrybeg on Moonday, February 15th, Mary O'Donnell, Dungloe with a score of 174 points won top score prize. First lady's prize with a score of 168 points was won by Madge Gillespie, Annagry, and second lady's prize with a score of 166 points went to Mary Mulligan, Magheraclogher. First gent's prize with a score of 168 points was won by Winnie McGee, Cotteen and second gent's prize with a score of 166 points was won by Dnall Ferry, Meenaniller. Sylvia Morgan, Cotteeen with 90 points had the highest score in the first half, while Mchel Rua Harkin, Gortahork with 89 points had the highest score in the second half. The whist will be held again in Scoil Mhuire, Derrybeg on Monday night starting at 8.30pm.
