Charlie (Dinny) Gallagher: The death of Charlie Gallagher, Annagry, which occurred at Letterkenny General Hospital on October 5th, caused widespread regret in both the Annagry and Gaoth Dobhair areas. A native of Coshclady, Bunbeg, Charlie Dinny moved to live in Annagry on his marriage to Mary The Hall. Sadly Mary passed away in 1973 at the young age of 46 years, living eight children, the youngest was aged only a year. A diligent and hard worker, Charlie worked in many parts of England, Scotland and Ireland. For many years he served as a ganger of pipe laying in many parts including, Belfast, Dublin and Galway. Following the death of his wife in 1973, he decided to a change of employment, and he started as a building contractor. Charlie Dinny was a kind hearted and friendly individual who was highly respected by everyone who knew him. He had outstanding qualities and as a neighbour and friend he had few equals. He was very devoted to his family and will be for ever remembered for his kindness throughout his life. There was a constant stream of mourners to his home throughout the wake to offer their sympathy to the bereaved family. His funeral mass was celebrated in St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Church; the main celebrant of the Mass was Fr. Donnchadh Baoill, C.C., Cnoc Fola assisted by An Dr. Oirmh. Pdraig Baoighill, Seiplineach Phobal Scoil Ghaoth Dobhair. The lessons were read by Sr. Agnes Coll (niece) and Dr. Dnal McGinley, (nephew). The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Mire Nic Grianna, Mire N Ghallchir, Maire Corcoran and Pdraign N Ghallchir (grand children). The sololists were, Brd, Caitln and Helena Joe Jack (nieces) and they were accompanied on the flute by Brain Danny Minnie. Following the Requiem Mass he was laid to rest in a plot alongside his wife, Mary. He is survived by his daughters, Maura Greene, (Loughanure), Brd Gallagher (at home), Eisibeal N Ghallchir, (Lettermacward) and Itna Corcoran, (Co. Meath); sons, John Gallagher, (at home), Samus, (Scotland), Cathal (at home) and Gavin (Finland); in-lawsl twelve grand children; family circle, relatives and friends, to all of whom deep sympathy is extended.
Monster Bingo in Cnoc Fola: There will be a monster bingo session in Ionad Chnoc Fola this Sunday night. Please note that due to the Parish Mission the bingo will start at 8.30pm. There will be a grand total of 2,200 euro paid out in prizes on the night. The main prize winners last Sunday night were: 130 euro, Jack Ferry, Lunniagh; 100 euro each: Mary Duggan, Lower Killult, Agnes Rodgers, Carrick, Rosie Ferry, Lunniagh, John Rua Dan, Brinaleck, Hiuda Diver, Middletown and Aodh Fearraigh, Bthar na Tr, An Bun Beag.
Whist Drive: At the whist drive held in Scoil Mhuire, Derrybeg on Monday, 12th October, Georgina Nic Giolla Bhrde, Meenaniller, with a score of 180 points, won top score prize. First lady's with a score of 177 points was won by Madge Gillesapie, Annagry, and Susan McCole, Dore with a score of 173 points won second lady's prize. First gent's prize with a score of 176 went to Tony McFadden, Meenderry, Falcarragh, while second gent's prize with 169 points was won by Brian Harkin, Gortahork. Kathleen Mulhern, Gortahork with a score of 95 points had the highest score in the first half, while Antin Mac Giolla Bhrde, Meenaniller with 95 points had the highest score in the second half.
Opening of New Shop: A new shop, 'Depo', opens in Magheraclogher this Friday. The shop is located in the old chemist shop, and it stocks men's, women's and children's clothing and footwear at very reasonable prices.

Coffee Morning: The Coffee Morning held recently in Meenacladdy proved highly successful and the event raised the magnificent sum of 1,100 euro. The organisers wish to express sincere gratitude to everyone who helped and supported the event. Also everyone who brought along home baking. Go raibh mle maith agaibh uilig.
Month's Mind Mass: The month's mind mass for the late Mrs. Maggie McGarvey, Bunaninver, will be celebrated in St. Colmcille Church, Cnoc Fola this Friday, 23rd at 7pm. The month's mind for the late Cassie Redden, Meenacladdy will be celebrated in St. Colmcille Church, Cnoc Fola this Sunday at 11am.
Wedding Bells: The wedding of Miss Sorcha McGarvey, Middletown, Derrybeg and Garda Rory Harrison, Sligo Town, was celebrated in the parish Church of Casteletto, Branzone, Lake Garda in Italy recently. Sorcha is the youngest daughter of Pat Bn McGarvey, ex. N.T., and the late Nra McGarvey and Rory is the youngest son of Mr. John and Mrs. Ann Harrison. The happy couple spent their honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast and in Rome. Sorcha and Rory are wished every happiness and good luck in the future by families, relatives and many friends.
Table Quiz: Table quiz in aid of Cumann Curach Ghaoth Dobhair will resume again in Teach Shein ig, Middletown on Thursday, 29th October at 9.30pm.
Friends of Letterkenny Hospital: In the recent church gate collection in aid of the Friends of Letterkenny Hospital the total sum raised amounts to 1,463 euro. The organisers wish to thank everyone who contributed also all the collectors who helped with the collection.
Golden Wedding Anniversary: Congratulations to Mr, Dinny and Mrs. Frances Gallagher, Meenacladdy, who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at the weekend. Dinny is a native of Meenacladdy, while his wife, Frances (ne McFadden), hails from Cnoc Fola. They were married in St. Colmcille Church, Cnoc Fola on October 20th, 1959. The bestman was Dinny's cousin, Joe O'Brien, (now deceased) and the bridesmaid was Ann McGrath, (sister of the bride). The flowergirl was Annmarie Duffy. The reception took place in Falcarragh.
