Finner camp investigation underway
An investigation which is underway in relation to an incident in Finner Camp does not relate to a sexual assualt, it has been confirmed.
According to a source within Finner Camp outside Bundoran, a male member of staff is being investigated for conduct unbecoming as this individual had been observed within the confines of the female quarters which is strictly out of bounds to male members.
The source said: “A man was seen in the area of the female accommodation. There was definitely no assault, no verbal abuse, nothing of that type.
“But, we are taking the incident extremely seriously. This area is completely out of bounds for males. The incident was reported to us later and it had to be investigated,” the source said.
Meanwhile Commandment Fergal Purcell said: “The allegation that is being investigated by military police currently was reported as being a sexual assault allegation. This is not the case.
“In regards to the other allegation that occurred in September 2006 it has been reported as having being completed. It is in fact ongoing.
“The incident is under investigation and we cannot discuss investigations.”
It is understood that the current investigation was reported a number of weeks ago.
