Elderly couple hospitalised after Burt collision

Up to five people, including an elderly couple were injured in a two car collision at Burt this afternoon.

Two vehicles collided head on at around 3pm. Eyewitnesses said one of the cars rolled over on to its roof but those inside, three young men, walked away with only minor injuries.

An elderly couple who were travelling in the other vehicle had to be freed from the wreckage by emergency services. The extent or seriousness of their injuries is not known but it is understood that they are not thought to be life threatening.

The main Derry to Letterkenny road was closed for a short time.

It is understood that all those involved in the collision were taken to hospital.
