E-voting machines to be scrapped
The old fashoned way, still works best!
Redundant e-voting machines which are stored in Donegal are to be sold.
The machines, which were part of a €54m failed government project, are to be sold for scrap. They were mothballed after they were found to be faulty.
Some of the 7,500 machines are stored in Donegal and they will be sold for scrap at €9.30 each. A fleet of lorries will begin removing the 7,500 machines from 14 locations around the country on Monday.
The machines will be taken to a Co Offaly recycling company, KMK Metals Recycling Ltd in Tullamore. The company which has have paid €70,000 for the machines which will be stripped down and shredded.
