Donegal fisherman drowns in Scotland
The body of a Donegal fisherman has been recovered from a harbour in Ullapool, Scotland.
Philip Anthony Toland, generally known as Anthony, was last seen near the pier in the early hours of Christmas Day. The alarm was raised when he was not seen again on Christmas Day and an extensive search was undertaken.
The 34-year-old fisherman from Malin Head had been working on a Scottish-based trawler, a source in Malin Head told the Donegal Democrat. The former member of Glengad United was the son of Ann and the late Owen Toland.
His body was recovered on Monday (St Stephen’s Day) by members of Grampian Police Dive Team, with the assistance of the Coast Guard and the RNLI.
Scottish Police said today that Mr Toland’s family have been informed of his death. Enquiries into the circumstances are continuing and police say they do not suspect foul play.
