Donegal’s greatest ambassador who is presently on tour in Branson, Missouri in the USA is overjoyed with the success of his new album which has entered the official British Charts at No. 7 and may well indeed make that elusive No. 1 slot.
The long-standing singing sensation Daniel O’Donnell, has created chart history by becoming the only recording artist to have charted at least one new album in the UK Artist Albums Chart every year since 1988, a staggering and record-breaking 25 consecutive years!
The new album - “Songs From The Movies And More” which was only released last Monday, has almost immediately entered the Official UK Charts at no 7 this week. which is a tremendous achievement.
Speaking from Branson, Daniel said, “I am delighted to have made it into the top ten album charts, it’s a
fantastic feeling to have achieved chart success in the albums charts for the last 25 years.
One of the reasons I recorded it is that in 2014 I am hoping to go to Austria to do a show for American Public Television and I want to go to Vienna because the “Sound of Music” is one of my favourite movies.
“The show will be done with the Mozart orchestra and Vienna Boys Choir - this is something I am really looking forward to.
“I am lucky to have a very loyal and dedicated fan base who I can’t thank enough for all their love and support over the years”,
Indeed the Kincasslagh man has another very good reason to be feeling very happy with his career at the moment.
The “Moon River Theatre” in Branson has been synonymous with the late Andy Williams for many years and especially for his annual Christmas shows which the late singer performed in November.
With the passing of the famous crooner Daniel is all set to perform in the famous theatre next year in the month of November.
Daniel’s manager and long time friend told the Donegal Democrat, Twelve years ago this was the theatre that I would have loved Daniel to perform in.
“This is an amazing opportunity for Daniel - Andy Williams was a legend and I am thrilled that Andy’s family have allowed Daniel to be the one to carry on the legacy.”
Daniel added, “When I first went to Branson to see what it was all about I said to Sean that if I ever get to the opportunity to pick a theatre that I would love to perform in the Andy Williams theatre.
“I feel very privileged that the family and the management in the Andy Williams Theatre would see fit that I would be able to come and do the shows and fill the void for that period of the year in November that Andy has left.”
