Court hears last words of murdered Donegal man

The last words of a Donegal man murdered in Glasgow were heard from a mobile phone of one of two young men accused of killing him, the High Court in Kilmarnock has been told.
William McKeeney, 57, a native of Malin Head who was kicked and stamped to death in Glasgow, said: “Is there a problem here, lads? What’s the problem?”
One of his alleged killers then took the phone and said William had just been “splattered”, it is claimed.
Witness Imran Khan told the trial he got a phone call from a friend called “Noddy”, the nickname of accused Adel Ishaq, 19.
Khan said he said hello. There was no reply, but he could hear Ishaq and co-accused Asif Rehman, 20, talking in English. He said they were running and sounded “drunk and hyped”.
The witness said he then recognised the “Irish voice” of William, a neighbour in Pollokshields.
He said: “I heard the Irish voice saying, ‘Is there a problem here lads? What’s the problem?’”
Khan said that about five minutes later, Ishaq phoned again and asked where he was. He said Ishaq’s voice was aggressive and “like whispered shouting – like he was hiding somewhere”.
He said Rehman then took the phone and said: “By the way, don’t walk out. We’ve just splattered a c*** outside your house.” Khan asked why, and Rehman said: “Because the white c*** was getting wide.”
Khan admitted at the High Court in Kilmarnock that he had refused to supply names to police. Asked why, he said: “Because I didn’t want to be a grass.”
The witness flinched as he was handed a picture of William dead in hospital. Prosecutor Tim Niven-Smith told him: “You are here to give evidence.”
Rehman and Ishaq deny the racially aggravated murder of William in January, and trying to defeat the ends of justice.
Ishaq denies possessing diazepam amd Rehman denies possessing cannabis and diazepam. The trial continues.
