Coroners wishes for ‘finality’ in missing man case
A Donegal coroner has stated that he would like to see finality to the case of Noel McGlynn who went missing from his family home in Calhame three decades ago.
Last year Letterkenny man Jim McGlynn requested a coroner’s inquest to establish whether a body which was found nine days following the disappearance of his brother was that of Noel McGlynn. The body was never identified and is buried at Holy Cross Church Cemetery in Dunfanaghy.
Coroner John Cannon said: “I checked and there are 46 inquests waiting to be heard. I know that this man has spent a long time waiting to establish whether the remains which were buried in Dunfanaghy are that of his brothers. It is a harrowing experience for him.”
Jim McGlynn was present at the inquest. He was represented by his solicitor Kieran Dillon. “The grave is finality and it puts an end to your client’s expectations,” Mr Cannon said.
