Cllr. calls for ‘middle ground to prevail’ in Glencolmcille priest row

Cllr Brendan Byrne is calling for “the middle ground to prevail” in Glencolmcille, where a 74 year old priest resigned last Sunday.
The Carrick-based councillor yesterday called for the church, laity and community to work together to resolve any problems. Otherwise, he warned, the parish could get a reputation for being “difficult”.
He’s also worried that, with the shortage of clergy in Ireland, Glencolmcille could find itself without a full-time priest.
