The owner of a Donegal-based security company has said that his firm was in no way responsible for the concert chaos in Dublin at the weekend at which nine people were stabbed and a man died of a suspected drugs overdose.

“We had no part to play in the anti-social behaviour that occurred in the Phoenix Park,” commented Ivan Harvey, of MICAD Security founded in Letterkenny in 2006.

Mr Harvey explained that he had staff deployed at the Dublin venue which staged gigs last Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Mr Harvey added: We are very good at what we do - anything we take on is done to perfection and we have built up a reputation of being the best in the business. Our staff are trained to the highest level and thankfully the investment we have made in the company is continuing to pay off.”

The managing director continued: “We have up to 40 people working full time and at the height of the summer, between part-time and full-time, that could rise to as many as 200. Up to 30 of our staff will be travelling to the Olympic Games in London later this month. We will be departing on July 25th and will return on August 13th. We will looking after Hyde Park where all the main gigs are taking place.”
