Bundoran/Sligo bus route call

A Bundoran Town Councillor has called for a recently re-scheduled bus service from Ballyshannon to Sligo to be returned to its original time and route.

Cllr. Michael McMahon said the 11.55am Bus Eireann service used to depart Ballyshannon daily but has been replaced recently with a service that now leaves an hour later and does not include a stop at Sligo General Hospital.

He said the original service was an important link for many patients and visitors travelling to the hospital and now they face the inconvenience of travelling later in the day and having to make their own way to the hospital from the Sligo Bus depot.

“It was a good service for patients and visitors alike. It used to take the old road in and at an appropriate time. This was a popular service in Ballyshannon, Bundoran and the surrounding areas. Now people have to get to the hospital from the Bus depot and make their way back out,” Cllr McMahon stated.

He said he would be calling for the original service to returned.

“I still want Bundoran Town Council to negotiate to get the best possible service for the people of Bundoran.

“It is impossible to get a car parking space at the hospital and this was a vital service for those who did not drive,” he added.
