Bundoran stabbing - defendant warned to stay away from victim

A man accused with the stabbing of a 25 year old in Bundoran on October 22 was warned not to make any contact with the victim or his family at a recent sitting of Carrick-on-Shannon District Court.

Martin Ward, Ballintra Housing Site, Ballintra, Co Donegal was charged with a section 3 assault of Brian Ward at Ross Road, Magheracar, Bundoran on October 22, 2012.

The defendant was arrested at Main St, Ballyshannon on October 25, three days after the stabbing incident. He was cautioned and charged and made no reply to the charge. Mr Ward appeared in Carrick-on-Shannon District Court on October 26. He was released on €250 bail, paid for by his father. The conditions of the bond were that Martin Ward sign on once a week at Ballyshannon Garda Station and that he “not interfere with any of the Ward Family from Ross Road, Bundoran.”

Judge Geoffrey Browne told the defendant that if there is “so much of a breath of air between you and these Wards - the bail will be revoked and you will be in jail until the case is heard.” The case was adjourned to Ballyshannon District Court for November 2.
