Bundoran Cllr. slams lack of information on bank closure

A Bundoran Town Councillor Doherty has expressed his disappointment at the way that the AIB bank closure in Bundoran is being handled.
Sinn Féin’s Diarmaid Doherty said: “As a customer of the bank, I find it very disappointing that there has been no official notice from AIB as to when the Bundoran branch will close, despite that fact that it has been common knowledge for nearly two weeks that it is due to close on the 1st of March.
“There has been no confirmation regarding the position of the ATM which is of great concern to locals and visitor alike. In my opinion, the staff seem to be as much in the dark about the closure and many seem to be unsure about their future.
“In my opinion, it is not acceptable that branch staff have not been given any indications as to their future. There are currently a number of full-time jobs in this branch and staff are very concerned that they may lose their jobs.
“I am calling on the management of the bank to make a public statement clarifying the arrangements that are in place to ensure the closure of the bank will take place with as little disruption to customers, local businesses and staff alike.
“I would also ask that the future plans for the ATM of the branch are made public as soon as possible. This is one of two ATMs in the town and is very busy with regular queues forming. I fear that the removal of this ATM would have a detrimental impact on local businesses.”
