Donegal is facing the first sustained cold snap of the winter over the next few days.
A northerly front will bring polar winds across the north west with daytime temperatures set to drop to between 3 and 6 degrees celsius.
Night time temperatures are expected to drop to as low as minus three degrees bringing frost and ice. Hail and sleet are also expected on high ground over the weekend.
