Ballybofey sisters top the beauty stakes

Two Donegal sisters are making a strong impression on the world of beauty after winning major national titles over the last few weeks.

Ballybofey sisters Louise and Alesha Gallen from Highfield, Dreenan in Ballybofey have both deservedly hit the right spots with the judges and now will go on to represent their county and country in the upcoming national and international finals.

Twenty two year old Louise a graduate from University College Galway was the popular winner of the Face of Ireland finals which was held in Jackson's Hotel earlier this year and will go on to represent the county in the national finals in November.

Meanwhile in a spectacular conclusion to the Miss Earth competition in London, Alesha walked away with the coveted title to the eco-inspired competition and will head off to Vietnam for the finals in early December.

The Miss Earth competition is far from your ordinary beauty pageant with its strong emphasis on promoting environmental issues around the globe.

Alesha is indeed well qualified for the role having studied Biochemistry and Microbiology at Galway University and is currently pursuing her studies in Glasgow Caledonian University.

During her reign as Miss Earth Ireland, Alesha will help promote environmental awareness for a clean and healthy environment-with Alesha as the Face of the Environment and her sister Louise as the Face of Ireland, we can rest assured that Donegal is in very safe hands.

Alesha whose favourite saying is "You may not always end up where you thought you were going, but you will always end up where you were meant to be" is absolutely delighted that she has been chosen

She said, "My favourite saying now rings very true - I never thought in the wide world that I would be going to Vietnam but then maybe that's where I am supposed to be.

"To be honest I'm still in shock-this is an amazing opportunity for me and I want to thank everyone who has helped me out especially my sponsors 'The Look' Hairdressers in Ballybofey.

"My main ambition now is just to Donegal proud in Vietnam and in the meantime give my sister Louise a bit of support in the national finals of the Face of Ireland."
