A message from Termon GAA club following the funeral of Andrew Duffy

The late Andrew Duffy.

The late Andrew Duffy.

We at Termon GAA would like to thank all of you for your kind wishes and sympathies during this harrowing time for the family, club and community.

Thanks also to all who lined the route as our beloved Son, Brother and Team-mate made that long lonely journey from Dublin. We will be eternally grateful for your making the journey so much easier.

The contribution from the wider GAA family, not only in Donegal, but nationwide is something we will cherish.

To the neighbouring clubs who on Thursday came among us as we said farewell to Andrew, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ‘Good men are most often found in the fields of their neighbours’.

We must also mention those from our own club, players and officials, who did so much in the last few days to ease the burden on Andrew’s grieving family. The dignity and respect shown by the guards of honour, both at the homecoming and funeral was a credit to club and players alike.

I know we cannot ease the terrible pain his family feel right now, but we hope the acts of kindness shown by so many friends and strangers will be a comfort to them in the future.

We never realised that Andrew’s visit with us would be so brief, but we will always be grateful that despite its briefness it was with us he visited.

That he is now at rest among the people he loved most and among those who loved him most, we can find some peace.

We will remember Andrew fondly, and often. When we do we will remember all of you who cared and we will be more caring because of you.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

Termon GAA.
