€840,000 sports and community funding announced for Donegal

A total of €840,000 in grants was announced yesterday for sports clubs and community organisations in Donegal.

Dinny Mc Ginley TD Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht welcomed the announcement by his colleague Michael Ring TD Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport of funding under the Sports Capital Programme.

Minister McGinley said: “The allocation of monies towards sports clubs throughout the county is indeed a welcome development. Young and old alike can participate in physical fitness at a variety of levels and providing centres and equipment to communities will no doubt ensure that more and more people continue to participate.”

The grant allocations are as follows: ALG Ard An Ratha €50,000; CLG Gleann Fhinne €50,000; CLG Iorras / Urris GAA Club €100,000; Clonleigh Social Services Ltd. €35,558; Cockhill Celtic Youth & Football Club €55,000; Coiste Forbartha Dhobhair Teo €5,500; Curragh Athletic Football Club €40,000; Donegal Bay Rowing Club €15,000; Donegal Mountain Rescue Team €23,000; Donegal Sports Partnership €10,000; Downstands Family Resource Centre €13,000; Drumoghill Football Club €41,000; Dungloe G.A.A. Club /Cumann Luthchleas Gael An Clochán Liath €100,000; Dunlewey Celtic Football Club €25,000; Gweebarra Canoe Club €4,000; Illistrin Community Development Association €34,000; IRD Milford Ltd €40,000; Kilmacrennan Celtic School Boys & Girls FC €20,000; Letterkenny Community Centre €90,000; Letterkenny Youth & Family Service (LYFS) €20,000; Mulroy Hoops Basketball Club €7,000; Naomh Mhuire GAA Club €9,000; Ramelton Tennis Club €25,000; Realt na Mara CLG, Bundobhráin €13,000; and St. Catherine’s FC €15,000.
