You could say that June Hughes of Ballybun, Castlefin is lucky in love!

June, who is originally from Letterkenny and works as a legal secretary in the town, won prizes worth €52,200, inlcuding €47,200 and a holiday in Turkey, last Saturday night on the National Lottery’s Winning Streak programme on RTÉ.

The winnings were all the result of a thoughtful Valentine’s day gift from her doting husband Martin.

He bought June a €6 Lotto quick pick as well as chocolates and a card for the big day.

The mother of four won a free scratch card on the quick pick. The scratch card revealed 3 stars which meant that she was in with a chance in last Saturday week’s draw.

Much to June’s delight, her name was drawn. So, June, Martin and their four children - Dean, Lauren, Coran and Kayleigh - made their way down to Dublin, to the RTÉ studios in Montrose last Saturday.

The practical Mum was keeping her ambitions modest.

She told host Marty Whelan that she hoped she’d win enough to buy a ‘people carrier’.

Her young daughter Lauren had different ideas, though.

She’d told her mother she wants the family to get a snow leopard.

In the end, June pocketed more than enough winnings to be able to make both purchases, if that’s what she decides to do!
