Two men, believed to be Chinese nationals, are being detained by gardaí in Ballyshannon following the discovery of around 300 cannabis plants at a farm in Ballintra.

Supt. Leo McGinn told the Donegal Democrat that, at around 10.30pm last night, a warrant was issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Detectives from Ballyshannon, accompanied by members of the Regional Support Unit, carried out a search of the farm at Garavanagh, Ballintra.

The two men were arrested and detained under Drugs Trafficking Legislation. One of the men is due to appear at Carrick-on-Shannon District Court today.

The scene has been sealed off as gardaí forensic teams carry out technical investigations.
