20 new jobs for Letterkenny

Joe McHugh TD has called a company’s decision to create 20 new jobs in Letterkenny “a vote of confidence in Donegal”.

US company KeyedIn Solutions is to establish its European Software Research and Development Centre at CoLab at the LYIT campus in Letterkenny, with 20 new jobs and prospects for expansion.

Deputy McHugh says the decison is “enhances Letterkenny as a hub town that is a national leader in technology and software”.

He added: “KeyedIn Solutions has announced 20 new positions, with additional plans for further investment ahead. The company is an emerging early stage technology company with market roots in the USA, Europe and South America. This is a sustainable new industry for Donegal.

“KeyedIn Solutions’ decision to invest in Donegal is a vote of confidence in the IT skills of the local workforce and is a vote of confidence in LYIT, which continues to produce highly skilled graduates. The jobs will be located in CoLab on the LYIT campus.

“Just last Friday week, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny was at LYIT to open its new science laboratories. LYIT is a key driver of the local knowledge economy.

“Staff have begun moving into the new premises in the last 10 days.

“Donegal has many highly skilled IT graduates working in cutting-edge companies around the world. The political objective is to create the economic environment for potential start-ups like KeyedIn to locate in the northwest, in order to attract our highly skilled young people to come back home.

“Today Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD has announced 122 new IT jobs in five different companies across the country. Minister Bruton recognises that IT and software development is a sustainable industry. I will continue to work with him and with existing Donegal IT-based companies in pursuing further opportunities for Donegal.”
