18-year-old Shane Patton RIP.

Shane Patton, the 18-year-old who died in a road traffic incident not far from his home, will be buried tomorrow (Sunday) following Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, Drumkeen.

A son of Martin and Julie Patton, Cloghroe, he died following a two car crash on the main Main Ballybofey to Letterkenny Road at Callan, Drumkeen on Wednesday evening. The collision happened at approximately 11.59pm.

G in Letterkenny are investigating what they described as a two car fatal road crash. The late Mr Patton, who was the sole occupant of one of the vehicles, died on Thursday afternoon at Letterkenny General Hospital, as a result of his injuries. The 38-year-old male driver and 23-year-old female passenger of the other vehicle were injured. However, it’s believed their injuries are not life threatening.

The road was closed for most of Thursday to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but reopened later that evening.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on (074) 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Removal from the late Mr Patton’s home takes place this morning at 10.45am for the Requiem Mass at 11.30am. Interment will follow afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
