Winner Mark Simms' tractor at last year's Lennon Ploughing Match
The Lennon Ploughing Association are holding their 37th annual ploughing match this Saturday, October 15th.
The event will be held by kind permission of the Devenney Brothers, on their land at Errity, Manorcunningham.
All the usual classes will be taking part including senior world style, junior world style, reversible, three furrow, ten inch whole work, vintage lift, trail and single furrow. There will also be horse ploughing and loy digging.
The event will start at 11am and will finish at 3pm.
Results will be announced at approximately 5pm.
Refreshments will be available in the field.
Proceeds from the match will be given to local charity.
The Lennon Ploughing Association has had a very successful year, with all members who competed at the national finals in Tullamore doing well in their respective classes. In addition, Lee Simms from Milford won the classic tractor class at the Northern Ireland Championships.
The annual prize giving dinner dance will be held in the Lagoon, Termon on Friday, November 25th, with music by Paul McCahill, admission €20. Tickets available from club members. Enquiries to Michael McElwee Tel. 087 1706289.
