Friday, October 14th

DERRYBEG: A social night will take place in the Gaoth Dobhair Day Care Centre, Derrybeg  tonight at 8.30p.m.  It guarantees a  great night of entertainment.  Music by Josie Cannon and admission is €5.  There will be music, dancing, plenty of craic and tea and scones will be provided.  Everyone is welcome to come along.

GLENVEAGH CASTLE:  Donegal Camerata String Ensemble at Glenveagh Castle, 8pm Drawing Room, Glenveagh Castle.  Price € 20/€ 15 (Bus leaving car park at 7.30pm Booking essential. An Grianán Theatre Box Office: 074 9120777 Music by Leopold Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, John McLachlan and Piazzolla. Tea, Coffee and tray bakes afterwards


KILLYBEGS: A table quiz will be held in the Tara Hotel, Killybegs at 10pm on Friday, October 14, in aid of Bobby Boyle's New York marathon bid.  Everyone welcome.


CNOC FOLA: A special mass will be celebrated in St. Colmcille Church, Cnoc Fola this Friday evening at 7.30pm at which all the homes in the area will be blessed. It is important that all families in the area are present and are asked to  bring their certificates.  The priest will bless the certificates during the mass.

Saturday, October 15th


BALLYSHANNON: The Pre-Festival Launch of this year’s 2016 Allingham Festival in Ballyshannon takes place this Saturday at 7pm in the Abbey Centre, with wine reception followed by a preview of some of the festival’s highlights. Paddy Cullivan will then perform his tongue-in-cheek exposé of “The 10 Dark Secrets of 1916”. The full programme for this year’s festival, which takes place November 3-6 is online at  www.allinghamfestival.com

MANORCUNNINGHAM: The 37th Annual Lennon Ploughing Association Ploughing Match at Devenney's farm, Errity, Manorcunningham. All the usual classes will be taking part including senior world style, junior world style, reversible, three furrow, ten inch whole work, vintage lift, trail and single furrow. There will also be horse ploughing and loy digging. The event will start at 11am and will finish at 3pm. Results will be announced at around 5pm. Proceeds in aid of charity.

CHURCHILL: Family concert at The Glebe, Churchill, 12.30pm. The Glebe House and Gallery, Churchill - Admission is free; Donegal Music Education Partnership´s Junior and Intermediate String Orchestras.  Works by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, John McLachlan's Dreams Adrift and music from the Disney movies


LETTERKENNY: Donegal Branch of The Alzheimer's Society of Ireland annual fund-raising dance will be held tonight at the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny, at 10pm. Tickets €5. Phone 074-912 4615.


DUNLEWEY: Ionad Cois Locha, Dunlewey  has a free open weekend on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October to say thank you to all their patrons. Come along and enjoy their free tour of the weaver's cottage, boat trip on the lake and playground entry.  The annual  sale is also commencing in their newly refurbished shop with lots of items to choose from.

BALLYSHANNON: Ballyshannon Drama Society’s production of the Thornton Wilder Pulitzer Prize winning drama, “Our Town”, continues at the Abbey Arts Centre at 8pm tonight. Tickets €15/12 from 071 985 1375.


BELCOO: The Oisín McGrath Foundation Run/Jog/Walk takes place in Belcoo at 1pm.

LETTERKENNY: Donegal Chamber Orchestra's 10th anniversary concert, 7 pm at An Grianan Theatre. Price €12 /€10. Join the Donegal Chamber Orchestra and special guests for a celebration of 10 years of wonderful music-making by the DCO in Donegal and beyond. Past and present orchestra members will perform together on stage in a concert which promises to be one of the musical highlights of 2016 at An Grianan. The DCO’s programme will include works by Vivaldi, Sibelius, Elgar, Bartók and the “Inishowen Set” composed for the Donegal Chamber Orchestra in 2013 by Donegal based composer John McLachlan.
