The under 16 boys team won their game away versus Dungloe.

Here’s a snapshot of what has been happening in St.Catherine's Vocational School, Killybegs this week. It was compiled by the T.Y students at the school.

Seo Linn

SEO Linn rolled into St Catherine’s Vocational School on Friday for a whole day workshop with all junior students. The roadshow - which is run by people from Coláiste Lurgan Irish College - is most famous for its appearance on the Late, Late Show as well as their Irish translations of songs such as Avicii’s “Wake me up” and “The Cup song”. They specialise in using Irish through music. During the last hour of the entire school was treated to a lively showcase of the work the that the students had completed throughout the day.

Overall the response was very positive with students praising the unique experience and thoroughly enjoying the day with one students saying, “we’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.”

If you wish to listen to their song translations visit their website www.SeoLinn.com or their Youtube channel, TG Lurgan.

Variety Concert

Auditions for the TY variety concert were held on Thursday 22nd September. There was some exceptional talent to choose from including singers and comedians which made the selection process very difficult. The Variety concert will take place at 7:30pm on Friday 14th October. Doors will open at 7:00pm. Please come and support this local talent. All are welcome!

Girls Active

GIRLS Active is back and wasting no time in setting up the agenda for the year. Swimming will take place straight after school every Tuesday for the next five weeks in the Bayview Hotel Leisure Centre. Any girls interested can contact Mrs. Cunningham.

St. Catherine’s U16 G.A.A

The under 16  boys team won their game away versus Dungloe on Wednesday the 21st of September. Despite the torrential rain and wind the boys managed to win the game 4:7(19) to 2:3(9).

The team started well but despite their best efforts it took them 13 minutes to record their first point kicked by Odhran McGuinness, and left us still trailing by a point. But not long after, Connor Cunningham scored a great goal to put the Killybegs side into the lead.

The team went in leading at half time by 2 points (1:4 to 1:2) thanks to a good save by goalkeeper and captain Corey Byrne just before half time.

Unfortunately, an injury forced full back Cillian Gildea to come off at half time. Josh Laffan replaced the full back and Christopher Boyle moved into Cillian’s former position, but their performance didn’t change. With the weather against both teams, St. Catherine’s were left trailing early in the second half but two quick goals from Odhran McGuinness and Ross Connelly the win was secured before the game was finished.
Team: Corey Byrne;  Patrick Dowd, Cillian Gildea, Chris Boyle; Niall Campbell, Seamus Byrne, Seanie Boyle; Timmy Gorrell, Liam Doherty; Mark Hutchinson, Odhran Mc Guinness, Michael Statham; Connor Cunningham, Ross Connelly, Karl Gallagher.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Odhran Mc Guinness, Killybegs who was selected to play for the Ireland U16’s v Bohemians U17’s.
