The 750 passengers and 400 crew aboard the MS Sapphire cruise liner couldn't have asked for a more specta cular introduction to Donegal than they one they enjoyed last Wednesday.

The P&O ship arrived early in the morning with absolutely idyllic weather, as seen in this wonderful photo taken by Mooney Boats.

As always, everyone was warmly greeted by members of Killybegs Cruise Initiative and Killybegs Information Centre.

Many passengers availed of excursions, visiting Glenveagh National Park, Donegal Town, Belleek Pottery or exploring south west Donegal and the cliffs at Slieve League.

Others remained in Killybegs, where they sampled the local hospitality, visited historic sites and the fishing port, and took in a Craft Fair with special entertainment.

The rains returned just around tea time but, by then, everyone was back on board and the skies cleared again as the ship departed.
