Submissions of old photographs for one of Donegal’s most important heritage towns are being sought for a special exhibition this weekend.
As part of Rathmullan’s 500th Anniversary commemoration there will be an exhibition in the Rathmullan & District Resource Centre (RDRC), Coastguard Station Road from Friday (August 26th) to Sunday illustrating 500 years of Rathmullan’s history and heritage.
Áine Ní Dhuibhne says the event is also part of National Heritage Week and they hope to generate more images of the area to add to local archives
Áine explained: “The older the photographs the better. We are looking for submissions ahead of the weekend. We are looking any kind of old scenes of the area, or groups of people, or just anything to do with Rathmullan. That would be very interesting for us.”
The organisers ask that you email scanned images to firstname.lastname@example.org or call Áine at 074 9158287 or John at 074 9158461 to have photos scanned and returned.
Rathmullan is highly regarded as an important historical area as it was the scene of the Flight of the Earls in 1607, a major turning point in Irish history.
