Cllr Terence Slowey, cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, next month will officially open the new bridge at Mullantiboyle, outside Glenties.
The official opening is to take place at 11am on Monday, September 5th.
The new bridge replaces a stone bridge that was about a century old when it collapsed in September of 2010, after a lorry diverted over the bridge during the Glenties Harvest Fair Festival.
The discovery of the protected freshwater pearl mussel at the site during an environmental assessment required new planning for the bridge, adding to the cost of the work and delaying the project.
