The fifth Wild Atlantic Big Swim from Arranmore Island to Burtonport takes place this Saturday, August 27th, to benefit the Donegal branch of the Alzheimer Society and RNLI.
Registration and sign-in takes place from 8am on Saturday at the Burtonport Welcome Centre, on the village main road. The big swim will kick off between 11 and 11.30am from Arranmore. More than 50 swimmers have already registered for this year’s event and there’s space for up to 100 participants.
Partners for this year’s event include the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association (ILDSA); Blueseventy, who are providing two Helix wetsuits worth €600 for the first place male and female swimmers; and the National Open Water Coaching Association (Nowca).
After the swim, there will be a barbecue at the pier at Burtonport.
