"GAA Jersey" heading for No. 1 slot

Donegal may not win every match on the field but when it comes to football anthems we must surely rate as All Ireland Champions.

First we had “Las Vegas in the Hills of Donegal”, then “Jimmy's winning matches” and now it's “the “GAA Jersey” - our new football anthem.

A collaboration between the legendary “Goats Don't Shave” and PHATKiiDZ the rap/celtic anthem opens with "Hey Girl, conas ata tú" and pays tribute to the many ladies in skinny jeans and football jerseys.

It has been an instant success on the internet and now on mainstream radio with it looking like hitting No.1 on ITunes this morning. On Friday morning last it was getting extensive airplay and interviews on all national stations.

Not only is this anthem totally infectious, it has received great praise for the fact that it is totally inclusive showing the multicultural power of music.

The interesting thing about this success is that nothing was planned - it all happened over a cup of coffee and was finalised in a car park in Letterkenny.

Pat Gallagher of Goats don’t Shave gives us the full story in Donegal Life on Thursday.
