Pringle takes fifth seat in dramatic finish in Donegal

Independent Thomas Pringle dramatically took the final seat in the Donegal constituency last night after a close-run contest with outgoing Sinn Féin TD Pádraig MacLochlainn.

The count in the Donegal constituency finished last night in Letterkenny after a tense battle for the last seat.

The outgoing TDs Pádraig MacLochlainn and Thomas Pringle were locked in a fight for the last seat which had left the possibility of a complete recount hanging over the election during the two-day count. But Sinn Féin conceded last night on the 13th count with a margin of 184 votes.
