Excitement mounts in Clarion Count Centre

Sligo Leitrim count latest

With John Perry’s vote of 4905 now distributed the tempo has risen in the Count Centre and has most likely signalled the final outcome in this sprawling constituency.

Poll topper Marc Mac Sharry gained an additional 350 votes edging him closer to the quota of 12,468. It would now be expected that with the distribution of Paddy O’Rourke’s votes Mac Sharry will indeed exceed the quota.

However, with a strategic distribution to his Fine Gael colleagues , McLaughlin and Reynolds it is now highly probable that both will be elected.

Tony McLoughlin is presently on 9,465 votes and Gerry Reynolds on 8,715. Tallymen have predicted that Reynolds will receive up on 18% of O’Rourke’s vote which would bring him over the 10,000 mark.

Declan Bree’s vote of 5512 is presently being distributed and the prediction is that a large portion of this could go to fellow townsman Chris Mac Manus but possibly just short of putting him ahead of Martin Kenny.

Speaking to the Democrat Bree said “I feel a lot of my vote will probably know go to Sinn Féin’s Chris Mac Manus but I don’t think it will be enough to overtake Martin Kenny.

The feeling in the room now is that the result will be Mac Sharry, Reynolds, Mc Laughlin and one Sinn Fein with the consensus going to Kenny.
