Naomh Conaill 3-17

St Eunan’s 5-5

The tone for the evening was set as early as the third minute when Leon Thompson’s fisted effort made its way into the St Eunan’s net.

When the teams crossed swords only five weeks ago in Letterkenny, it was St Eunan’s who won

Yesterday, Maxi Curran’s team got back into the match when Kevin Rafferty fisted a Kieran Sharkey pass over Stephen McGrath, the Naomh Conaill goalkeeper.

Then, on 27 minutes conor McEniff added a second St Eunan’s goal and his team trailed by just a point, 1-7 to 2-3.

But Naomh Conaill reaffirmed some of their control when, at one end, McGrath made a fine save in a one-on-one to deny Lee McMonagle and then at the other end, Dermot Molloy added a goal to leave his side 2-9 to 2-3 up at the break.

Thirteen minutes into the second half, John Haran goaled for St Eunan’s and when Conall Dunne also found the net, in his case from a 51st minute free, it was Naomh Conaill 3-14 to St Eunan’s 4-5.

Naomh Conaill, through Seamus Corcoran, had netted their third goal of the afternoon between those two.

Conor McEniff grabbed another late goal for the visitors but it was Naomh Conaill who were deserving of the points.
