Donegal are the New York Junior B champions following an impressive 3-14 to 2-6 final victory over Manhattan Gaels, last weekend.
Donegal, with Jackie McHugh turning a man of the match performance and Pa Nolan superb in goals, laid the foundation for the win in the second quarter.
With the score 0-3 each after 15 minutes the champions hit 2-3 without reply in the remainder of the half to take a firm grip on the tie by half-time.
Greg King and Kevin Lilly scored the Donegal goals to send them in 2-6 to 0-3 up at half-time.
On the resumption Donegal continued to dominate and stretched their lead out to 2-9 to 0-4 before Manhattan followed with a quickfire 1-1 before Donegal pulled away again.
The champions closed out the game with a Stephen Cunningham goal and points from Pa Nolan and Brendan Grant. Niall Brennan did score a late consolation goal for the Gaels.
Pa Nolan in goals, David O’Connell and Jack Donnelly,in the half back line, Brian Hegarty and Brian Givney, in midfield along with Jackie McHugh, Danny Shovlin and Stephen Cunningham, in attack were the standout players for Donegal.
Damien McCaughey, Conor O’Leary, James Egan and Ger Shivnan all turned in big performances for the Gaels.
