The second half was a battle and it was Mac Cumhaills who found the net again, this time a superb finish from Chloe Laverty. Final score was Mac Cumhaills 2-01 Burt 0-01. The girls are top of the league having won all 7 of their games so far.

The seniors and reserves both suffered defeats at Glencolmcille over the weekend, and the U14s also lost out in the Northern Board Division 2 league final at the hands of Letterkenny Gaels.
The seniors’ winning start to the season ended when they suffered a narrow defeat to Naomh Columba on Sunday. Full time score Naomh Columba 0-11 1-6 Naomh Colmcille.
The reserves were also defeated at Naomh Columba on a final scoreline of Naomh Columba 4-14 1-6 Naomh Colmcille.
The u16s match against Termon didn’t go ahead this week.
There was disappointment for the Naomh Colmcille U14s when they were narrowly beaten by Letterkenny Gaels in the Northern Board Division 2 league final at a windswept Burt on Wednesday evening.
Naomh Colmcille had the wind advantage in the first half and got the opening score from a free in the first minute. This was followed soon after by a goal and then a point. Another goal arrived for Naomh Colmcille before the Gaels got their opening score after 10 minutes. At this stage the lads lead by 2-2 to 0-1. Two further points were added to the Naomh Colmcille tally before the Gaels got a goal to reduce the deficit to 6 points. The lads extended the lead with their third goal in the 25th minute, and a further point for each side completed the first half scoring and left the score at the short whistle Naomh Colmcille 3-5 1-2 Letterkenny Gaels.
Naomh Colmcille got the first point of the second half but then the Gaels, playing with the wind, took control for the next 15 minutes or so, scoring 4-2 without reply to lead by 4 points. The Naomh Colmcille lads, to their immense credit, stemmed the tide and reduced the deficit to 2 points before finding the net with a fisted effort to take a 1 point lead with less than 10 minutes to go. Unfortunately the Gaels equalised soon after and completed the scoring with two points to run out winners on a full time scoreline of Naomh Colmcille 4-8 5-7 Letterkenny Gaels.
Well done to the entire panel for their efforts not just in the final but throughout the league and knockout stages. Both sides now progress to the All-county league semi-finals.
