The Club are holding a Child Awareness course in Fintra Clubrooms on Thursday Night 21st November at 7.30pm sharp. The senior board presentation night is on Saturday December 28th in the Clock Tower, Music on the night is by the Bigs Jigs, followed by a disco, presentations to the 25 year Jubilee teams of 1988 the senior and Junior B championship winners. The past weekend will be remembered for new arrivals and new heights achieved in Glenswilly. We congratulate our senior manager Gary and his good wife Amanda on the latest addition to the McDaid family and hope baby Jack will grow to become a healthy strong footballer in the Glenswilly jersey.
Sunday past in Omagh saw Glenswilly achieve meteoric heights in the realm of Ulster Senior football. The victory over Roslea puts the club in the position of being one of the top two clubs in Ulster alongside Derry kingpins, Ballinderry in this years Champioship.
The victory over Roslea revealed a character in this fine Glenswilly team that has grown over this past year. This game will be remembered not alone for the performance of the big guns of Glenswilly, but also the massive contribution from the so called fringe players on the day. The lads performed as a finely tuned unit.
We will be returning to Omagh on Sunday, Dec.1st to face Ballinderry of Derry in the Ulster showcase. Throw will be 3pm .
In honor of the success of reaching the Ulster Final the club are holding an “Up For The Match” evening in the Club hall this coming Friday (Nov.22nd). MC for the night is Charlie Collins, with interviews with past and present players. Local musicians, singers and dancers will provide entertainment. Admission is €10 for adults and €3 for under 16s and tea and sandwiches will be provided for all.Doors open 7pm so come along for a great nights craic.

The Bord Na n’Óg Presentation evening, in conjunction with the ladies will be held on Sunday, 24th November downstairs in Dom’s Pier 1. This will be a very busy evening showcasing the work being done and the fabulous efforts made by the children in camogie, hurling and football. Hard luck to the under 15s were defeated by Buncrana in the quarter-final of the championship on Sunday last after extra time in Buncranna.
Aodh Ruadh were like a greyhound out of the traps in this under 21 B championship final in Convoy. However, as the rain started to come down Burt’s battling qualities saw them get a draw and then almost claim the title, only to be denied by a Peter Boyle special two minutes into added time at the end of extra-time.

After an unforgettable evening in Dorrian’s last Saturday, an emotional Niall ‘Leaving On A Jet Plane’ McCready was crowned the Alternative Rose of Ballyshannon. Niall was feted with the acclaim of the crowd and his rival roses, Kerry Ryan, Aidan Murray, Shane Toolan, Billy Grimes, Donagh Keon, Brendan ‘Benji’ Drummond, Michael Daly, Liam Winters, Paul McGonigle and Luis Moreira after a stern test of his alternative rose credentials. Niall received his tiara from the Ballyshannon Harvest Fair Queen, Laura Gallagher, who looked suitably impressed. However it would be fair to say that all our roses really, er, rose to the occasion and gave everyone there an outstanding night’s entertainment which continued on into the wee hours. Thanks to the ever-suave Sean Perry for keeping the gushing to manageable levels and to our astute judges Michael McLoone, Patricia Keane and Charlie Gillespie. Thanks to David O’Donnell for music and Martin Ferris who took care of lighting. The Annual General Meeting will take place next Friday the 22nd at the club house at 7.30pm. This is a very important yearly meeting for members and executives to have their say in the club and were important jobs within the club are filled.

Hard luck to the Under 15s who lost out in the quarter finals to Naomh Padraig Muff. We led for long periods of the game, with good scores from Cark Dunnion, Shane Thompson and Adam Lynch, but we were caught by a late goal. The under 8s had their last blitz of the season on Saturday. We were delighted to welcome Neil Gallagher to the club to present the medals to the teams. We know Neil is a very busy man, with Glenswilly and the county team and we appreciate him taking the time to present the trophy. As always we would like to thank Mary and Enda Bogle from the Flower Shop for their continued support of the club and the Under 8’s in particular. There were no winners of this weeks lotto. The underage presentation night was a fantastic to see such a huge turnout at the underage presentation night on Saturday evening. This is the third year in a row Amber has been awarded an All Star and the second year that Shannon has been selected.
This years dinner dance sure to be a great night due to the fantastic success of our Senior Mens and Ladies teams this year. It has been the most successful year ever for the two teams and has seen both complete the domestic double and also going far in Ulster, while our Gaelic for Mothers & Others team also made great strides. The two league and two championship trophies will be presented as well as a host of player of the year awards and Hall of Fame awards. The club have been relegated to Division 3 following their defeat to MacCumhaills on Saturday last. The club had a sell out show on Saturday night in Óstán Loch Altan for our Jigs & Reels event. Pride of place this week goes to our under 16 team who reached the county final where they will play against St Eunans. They defeated Glenfin in the semi-final on Sunday last on a score-line of An Clochan Liath 0-13, Glenfin 1-5. Some good performances from Brian O’Donnell, James McCole and Ryan Greene. We wish Eugene and his entire panel of players and mentors the best of luck in the final and we encourage as many as possible to support the team in the final.
