Gaoth Dobhair had a very easy passage to the semi-final of the senior Reserve Championship against a weak Kilcar side in Glenties.
Gaoth Dobhair were on top from the first whistle with four points from four different players by the seventh minute. They added three more by the 16th minute with Kilcar not getting on the scoreboard until Gerard McBrearty landed a free in the 19th minute.
By that stage Gaoth Dobhair had added another three points to lead by 0-7 to 0-0 and they were full value for it with Manny Gallagher, the Mulligans, Gavin McBride and James Sweeney on the scoresheet and Sweeney also denied a goal.
Michael McKelvey had a good second quarter notching two points while Kevin Campbell gave Kilcar some hope with a well taken goal, but they still trailed by 0-10 to 1-1 at the break.
The second half was again one way traffic with McKelvey pointing his second ‘45’ inside three minutes and Manny Gallagher and Gerard McBride kept the scoreboard ticking.
The icing was put on the cake for Gaoth Dobhair with five minutes left when Niall Friel cut through to set up Sean Doherty to palm to the net
Apart from an early second half free from Declan Gallagher and two late points, there was little or no challenge from Kilcar.
It was an impressive display from the winners, who will be difficult opposition for Ardara in the semi-final. Apart from McKelvey, they had stars all over the field inDavid McGee, Jamie Reynolds, Sean Doherty, the Mulligans, McBride and Manny Gallagher.
