Kilcar continued their fine form this season with a thumping nine-point win away to Ardara in the All-County League Division One.

Ardara 1-10

Kilcar 1-19

Patrick McBrearty set the tone for Kilcar with a goal on 42 seconds and would go onto score 1-4 in all. His stablemate with Jim McGuinness’s Donegal was equally impressive - Ryan McHugh hit seven points.

McBrearty’s goal set Kilcar off on a spree of scoring that their understrength neighbours simply couldn’t deal with.

Kilcar were 1-12 to 0-3 in front at half-time, although they did have a favourable wind at their backs.

Mark Sweeney and Ciaran McGinley had also played their part in that commanding advantage.

Tomas Boyle and McHugh traded early second half points before Brendan McNelis and Boyle tacked on two more scores for Ardara.

Points from Aodhan McGinley and McHugh (2) saw Kilcar stretch the lead back out to eleven with five to play.

Two late frees from Boyle and a fine strike to the net by young Kevin Whyte put a bit of respectability to the scoreline only for substitute Darragh O’Donnell, McBrearty and Sweeney to swing over three more points for Kilcar.
