With the county players not available Gaoth Dobhair were the more inconvenienced with three seniors and six minors not available (although minor Gavin McBride came in for the last ten minutes).

Kilcar were allowed to field Stephen McBrearty as county minor manager, Declan Bonner, wanted the Kilcar minor to get some game time.

Mark Sweeney had the opening score after just ten seconds and a goal from Ciaran McGinley had Kilcar ahead by 1-2 to no score after five minutes.

Padraig McGarvey got Gaoth Dobhair on the scoreboard but Mark McHugh added a third point for the home side from a free.

Gaoth Dobhair got back in the contest courtesy of a Padraig McGarvey penalty after Ciaran Diver was fouled on 11 minutes and Joe Duffy had them level on 17 minutes. By half-time the sides had shared four more points, Stephen McBrearty and Eoin McHugh for Kilcar and McGarvey and Noel Kelly for the visitors to leave them at 1-5 each.

Kilcar took a grip early in the second half with Aodhan McGinley pointing a free and Mark Sweeney hitting a great goal on 36 minutes after a great pass from Stephen McBrearty. McBrearty was given permission to play by county minor management and he got two first half points.

Gaoth Dobhair kept in touch with three points in-a-row from Ciaran Ferry, McGarvey and Noel Kelly. but a third Kilcar goal arrived in the 50th minute, Manus Weed with a rash push on Aodhan McGinley and McGinley converted well from the penalty spot. Ashley Carr and two McGinley points pushed Kiclar 3-11 to 1-9 clear with only minutes left.

Gaoth Dobhair hit two late goals from Kevin Cassidy and a Gavin McBride flick, but it was too little, too late.
