The 2014 Graham cup, Under 15 Ulster Inter League competition took place in the National Badminton Hall, Lisburn on Saturday 29 March last.

The 2014 Graham cup, Under 15 Ulster Inter League competition took place in the National Badminton Hall, Lisburn on Saturday 29 March last.

Co. Donegal was well represented with 3 teams. 28 players, under the direction of William Love, Co. Donegal Tournament Director; assisted by Wesley Knox, coach; Elizabeth Magee; Caryln McKInley, Treasurer; and Dorothy Moore.

In the qualifying rounds Donegal A. Topped their group, with Ulster A. Winning the other group. The crossover finals saw Ulster B. Take on Donegal A. In the Div.1 Final and Donegal B. Competing in the final of the Div.2 against North Down

Graham Cup Dv.1: Ulster B. V Donegal A.

Donegal A got off to a very good start against the Ulster provincial players as Aaron Magee and Cameron Wilson beat Conor Monteith and Thomas Cherry 22/24, 21/15, 21/18 in 1st. Boys while in 2 boys Jack Macbeth and Jamie McKinney beat Oliver Patterson and Reuben Lamour 21/9, 21/12. The Woods sisters, Rachael and Rebecca won 1 girls for Ulster B. 21/10, 21/15. Kim Laird and Chloe Lowry giving a very good account of themselves for Donegal A. Donegal A continued their success in the final winning 2 girls Leah Magee and Lynn McKinley beating Sarah Cherry and Summer Ferguson 21/12, 21/19

The mixed doubles was a very tough encounter as the Magee sister and brother partnership: Leah and Aaron remained unbeaten in 1st. Mixed which they won, 14/21, 21/18, 21/15.

Kim Laird and Jack Macbeth won 2 mixed 14/21, 21/18, 21/14. Lynn McKinley and Jamie McKinney won their 3 game set 21/12, 18/21 and 21/14. To complete the Dv.1 Final:

Donegal A. 6Pts, Ulster B. 1Pt, Donegal A had won the Graham Cup 2014, Under 15 Ulster Inter League champions.

Division 2 final

Donegal B. Had a very tough Div. 2. final, Donegal B won 1st Boys with Aaron Knox and Andrew Wilson, Kirsten Warke andJa ck Pearson won 2nd boys. North Down won 1st girls, Emma Gallagher and Naomi Moore. Donegal B narrowly beaten; however Donegal B responded with Louise Stewart and Vanessa Mc Hugh winning 2nd Ladies.

The match concluded with mixed doubles Donegal B won 1st mixed: Emma Gallagher and Aaron Knox 15/21, 21/15, 21/18. Donegal narrowly lost 2nd mixed with Louise Stewart and Andrew Wilson, and 3rd mixed with Naomi Moore and Aaron Wiley.

Result: Donegal B: 4Pts. North Down:3pts, Donegal B. were Div. 2. Ulster under 15 Inter League Champions 2014.

The Donegal C. Team, playing in the Div.2 competition, had a very tough days play which gave them very valuable experience as many of them were under 13 years of age.
