Donegal flags were waving in the St John Bosco Centre in Donegal Town on Sunday night, as Donegal boxers overcame Kildare.
Donegal won the inter-county tournament by seven bouts to four in a cracking night’s boxing with most of the fights being decided on split decisions.
The Donegal winners were Hugh Doherty, St Briget’s, Clonmany; Isaac McLaughlin, Twin Towns; Ryan Ward, Convoy; Martin Lynagh, Carrigart; Keenan Gibson, Convoy; Calvin McShane, St John Bosco, and Brian McNamee, Convoy.
The large crowd were also treated to a high quality exhibition bout between Bundoran’s Irish Schoolboy champion Shane Gillespie and Paul McInerney from Kildare.
The tournament was hosted by the St John Bosco Boxing Club and the main sponsor was Pat Dullea, Well Drilling and Plant Hire, in Donegal Town with support from John Hanna, of Hanna Hats, also of Donegal Town.
