Southern GAA Clubs try to overturn Na Rossa/Dungloe minor amalgamation

Donegal’s Southern Regional GAA board are up in arms following the decision of the Donegal County Committee to grant Na Rossa and Dungloe approval to amalgamate at minor level.

Donegal’s Southern Regional GAA board are up in arms following the decision of the Donegal County Committee to grant Na Rossa and Dungloe approval to amalgamate at minor level.

The Regional Board, at a meeting on Thursday night, passed a motion calling on the county committee to revisit the decision of last Monday night’s county committee meeting.

The board voted 15-3 in favour of the motion calling on county committee to revisit the proposal and to consult with the board on the matter. There were ten abstentions.

Much of the opposition to the amalgamation centred around the fears that it would create a super team that would be too strong for all the other teams.

FLOODLIGHTS AT

CONVOY

Meanwhile, work is expected to begin within the next few days with the installation of floodlights at Donegal’s new Centre Of Excellence, at Convoy. The contract with Cork firm McSharry’s was signed on Friday.

Development Officer Michael McMenamin confirmed that the lights are expected to be in place by the end of March. The new floodlights are of the same spec as those in Sean MacCumhaill Park.
