Ryan and Mark McHugh both played on the IT Sligo team that were held to a draw by Roscommon at Kiltoom in the FBD League in Connacht on Sunday.
The Kilcar brothers had fine games with Ryan kicking four points from play and Mark firing over two, the second of which was added to by Evan Regan to give the students a two-point lead in stoppage time. However, John Evans’ Roscommon made it 1-14 apiece thanks to scores from Neil Collins and Cathal Cregg at the bitter end.
Meanwhile, Luke Keaney from Four Masters was part of the University of Ulster Jordanstown team that went down 1-15 to 0-7 against Down in the NI Power Dr McKenna Cup Section A in Newry. Peter Fitzpatrick struck the solitary goal of the afternoon.
Martin McElhinney from St Michael’s played for Queen’s University Belfast as they were beaten 1-17 to 0-15 by Armagh at the Athletic Grounds in Section A which also includes Donegal and Tyrone. The teams were tied at 0-8 apiece at the break with the crucial score arriving early in the second-half when Niall McConville found the net.
