The club dinner dance and the big development draw takes place on Friday January 10th in the Ballyliffin Lodge and Spa. Tickets for both the dance and draw are still available by contacting any committee member. Anyone with tickets sold for the draw are asked to return them to John Friel as soon as possible. Also, anyone looking to buy a ticket for the draw please contact John or any Committee members. The 1st prize is €2,000 with 11 other excellent prizes to be won. The new clubhouse is looking superb as you will agree, when fully complete it will be a huge asset to the parish for generations to come.

Underage handball starts on the 13th and 15th of January at 7pm. The annual agm will be held in the GAA Centre on Saturday 11th of January at 8pm. Indoor underage training resumes this week with U-10s on Wednesdays 6-7pm ; U-12s Wednesdays 7-8pm and U-8s Fridays 6.30- 7.30pm.
The GAA has launched a National Club Draw as a fundraiser for local clubs, with the draw taking place on 17th March 2014. Prizes with a total value of €30,000 are being provided by GAA Central Council. The proceeds from all tickets sold by Naomh Colmcille will go directly to Naomh Colmcille, and will be used towards the club’s 2014 yearly expenditure.
First prize is a trip to the 2014 International Rules series in Australia. Full list of prizes (ten total) can be seen on the club website, Facebook page and poster at clubhouse.Tickets priced €10 each are now available from Alison Ferry, Paul Callaghan, Adrian Marsh, or any committee member.

A very successful 25 Card Drive was held in the clubhouse recently, the event was very well attended with a busload of eager card enthusiasts traveling all the way from the Fanad peninsula to take part. Overall winner on the night was Seamus Wilhare from Carrigart who collected the 300 euro prize money. 2nd place and 250 euro went to Pat O Brien. 3rd place was Seamus Harkin and 4th was MJ Doherty (G) who both collected 75 euro each for their efforts.

The club agm took place on Saturday night. Outgoing Chairman Kevin Doogan, thanked everyone who supported, contributed and helped out with club functions during the year. The U-21s take on Erne Gales of Fermanagh in the preliminary round of the Ulster 21 football championship on 25th January, at Kickhams Creggan GAC, Co Antrim hosts the annual event.

Nigel Black has decided to step down as senior manager due to other commitments. In a like for like swap Shaun Paul Barrett will take the reins for the 2014 season.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Owen McCann, Artane, Dublin and formerly of Moville, who passed away on January 3rd. Owen was a former Gaelic games journalist and author, his books included ‘The Shell Book of the McCarthy Cup’, ‘Greats of Gaelic Games’, ‘Who’s Who in Gaelic Games’ and ‘Recordmakers of Gaelic Games’. He was also a former editor of ‘Gael Sport’, the official GAA monthly magazine. Before moving to Dublin he was a co-founder and secretary of Moville GAA club of the 1940’s which included county players Con McLaughlin, Tom Casserly and Pat Lally. Owen was a dedicated GAA and Donegal follower throughout his lifetime. Our sincere sympathy to his brother Eddie, sister-in-law Anne, nieces and nephews and all his extended family and friends.

The annual juvenile hurling presentation night will take place in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh on Wednesday the 15th January. Pride of place will go to the minors who achieved the league and championship double in 2013.s
The senior ladies panel gathered in Dicey Reilly’s last Saturday for a presentation of their runners-up county medals. Chairman Eoin O’Moore and senior managers, Teddy Kane and Terence McShea, presented the medals. Captain Niamh Gallagher presented the management team with a token of appreciation. There was no winner of the €7,100 Lotto jackpot last Sunday. The numbers drawn were 2, 7, 9, 13, 15 and 17. In the lucky dip €20 each went to: Jackie Gallagher, Assaroe View; Kerry Ryan, Wardtown; Gerry Carty, c/o McGinley’s; Caroline McGarrigle, Woodlands; and Jane Maguire, The Knather. The annual dinner dance rounded of a wonderful year for Glenswilly GAA. Attended by 400 people,the night celebrated all that made 2013 a memorable year for our Club. The awards on the night went to a very delighted Caolan Kelly for Senior player of the year. The reserve player award was shared with the daddy of the team “Big” Gerard McGrenra and Twenty years his junior Oisin Crawford. Young player of the year went to Ryan Hunter and third team player of the year went to another rising star of the future, Padraig Boyle.
Clubman of the year went to Mr All-rounder George Simmons, the man who cooked, washed, kitted, lottoed and painted his way to this much deserved award. Well done George. Cultural award went to one of the most valuable members within the Club, Mr Dietmar Goepport. The value of this mans contribution to anything happening, especially in the Club Hall, cannot be underestimated. A fitting winner.
Michael Murphy received a special recognition award for Captaining Ireland to success in the International Rules Test against Australia.
Appreciation awards were made to Finnbar Glackin, James Pat McDaid and Jim Gallagher for their commitment and dedication to their beloved Glenswilly Club.
The Ulster Council President Mr Martin McAviney made the trip from Monaghan to award the seniors with their Championship medals and the Div.2 all county league medals. The reserve team were also presented with their reserve league medals.
County Chairman Mr Sean Dunnion was also present on the night and spoke highly of Glenswillys year.
The presences of the Dr Maguire, the Sandy Harper and the Cormac McAnallen cups made it a memorable night for photographs. The club acknowledged Joe Gibbons and his wife Suzanna on their wedding this year and not to forget the Glens adopted son Mr Eamonn Ward, who showed his romantic side by taking his beau Sinead Doherty of to Rome and proposing to her in front of the Tivoli fountain recently. Thankfully for Eamonn she said Yes.
Thanks to Mr Charlie Collins who was MC for the night and kept us all entertained with his usual craic and wit and kept the night flowing smoothly.

The club are delighted to announce the launch of the Kube. Contestants will pit their wits against the Kube to win a first prize of €4000. This incredible night will take place on the 1st Feb in the Villa Rose Hotel. Doors open at 7.00pm. First contestant at 8 pm. This is an event not be missed. The annual dinner dance will take place in the club on Saturday the 18th Jan. This night has been one of the highlights of the club over the last number of years. Tickets are modestly priced at €12.50. Due to the success of our 1st Couch to 5k programme we are delighted to announce that we are starting a new one on Tuesday 14th Jan .
