Gaoth Dobhair spectacularly turned the tables on St Eunan’s in the surprise of the round in the Centra Supermarkets U-21A Championship on Tuesday night.
Last June, the Letterkenny side hammered Gaoth Dobhair 4-24 to 0-2 in the same competition at O’Donnell Park but revenge was gained in Magheragallon in a 2-11 to 1-13 home win.
Matthew Harkin’s superb goal at the end of the first half was followed by a second from Cian Mulligan in the seventh minute of the second period before a late Brian McGeehin goal led to a frenetic conclusion.
Meanwhile, Dungloe overcame St John’s 0-13 to 0-10 in a replay.
Conor Greene’s four first half points and two more from Christopher McGlynn put Dungloe into an 0-8 to 0-5 half-time lead.
But despite points from Alan Lyons and Hugh McFadden after the break, it was the side from Rosses Park who made it through to the last eight.
In the U-21B competition, Aodh Ruadh overcame Carndonagh 2-11 to 1-10.
David McGurrin and Johnny Gethins were the goalscorers for the Ballyshannon side, while Danny Monagle goaled for Carndonagh.
Buncrana posted a 4-17 to 0-8 victory at home to Naomh Padraig, Lifford, and Urris got the better of Robert Emmets, 4-11 to 2-6.
